Owens Corning Roofing expands shingle recycling program

In its sixth year, the company’s shingle recycling program is now available in 108 markets with more than 200 collection locations.

Owens Corning Roofing and Asphalt launched its shingle recycling program in 2009. The company notes that it was the first roofing manufacturer to introduce a national shingle recycling program. Since introducing the recycling program, the company recognizes the following achievements:
 
  • Owens Corning Roofing and Asphalt estimates 2.4 billion pounds of shingles were recycled in 2014, representing a 33 percent increase from the previous year. 
  • The company’s shingle recycling program is now available in 108 markets with more than 200 collection locations verified by Earth911, a national recycling resource website. 
  • Owens Corning Roofing and Asphalt shingle recycling network’s nationwide coverage enables 65 percent of the country’s population to have access to a qualified shingle recycler.
  • Owens Corning Roofing contractor network presently has 563 contractors committed to recycling shingles.
